MB Mold & Air Quality Testing was started in 2007 as MB Environmental, Inc by Michael Buelow. At that time, Mr. Buelow had retired from John Deere where he was an asbestos safety officer. He created MB Environmental, Inc as an asbestos testing and abatement training firm.
Shortly thereafter, mold began being recognized as a significant concern in occupied spaces. The remediation standards for mold were developed using the existing asbestos abatement methods, so diversifying into mold testing and mold remediation training, was a natural transition.
In 2017 when Mr. Buelow retired, Bob Vohl, CIE, CMI, AMRT, took the helm. At that time, the firm moved away from asbestos testing and diversified further into air quality testing, which led to the name change. In 2020, due to increased demand for asbestos inspections and testing, MB again became one of the leading asbestos inspection and testing firms in the area. Madeline Vohl, a licensed asbestos inspector, joined the company as an inspector and an IAQ (Indoor Air Quality) Intern.
April of 2024 – Todd Wiedenman, the owner of MB, took over operations management as Bob Vohl moved on to other responsibilities. Bob will still be available for specialty cases but the day-to-day operations will be Todd’s responsibility.
MB Mold & Air Quality Testing operates primarily in IA, IL & WI as well as performs specialty consulting nationwide as a resource for remediation contractors and disaster response services. Our mold testing assessment services, consist of pre-testing, remediation scope drafting, PRV testing and PRV analysis. In addition to resuming asbestos inspections, we have also diversified into other aspects of IAQ testing and monitoring including; methamphetamine residue, allergen, histoplasma capsulatum, sewage contamination, toxic and environmental gas monitoring with GrayWolf air quality monitoring tools, including TVOCs.
